Insurance Company Endorses dōTERRA

Oil users claim victory

It’s common for consumers who are not familiar with alternative health approaches to question their effectiveness, or even to criticize them as the wishful thinking of the fruit-and-nuts crowd.

And until an outside source lends its weight to the argument, it’s difficult for supporters to mount a defense to the nonbelievers.

Now, for all those who would say that essential oils are not a viable alternative to traditionally manufactured products, a reputable and experienced insurance company says differently.

BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York has announced that it is including dōTERRA oils among the benefits that customers can purchase with their $250 wellness card. Other covered products and services include massage therapy, gym memberships and Weight Watchers, putting dōTERRA oils solidly within the basket of accepted practices.

This is the first time that an insurance company has indicated that essential oils – in this case, dōTERRA is named specifically – deserve to be considered with other, proven, treatments that benefit your health.

For me, this is a game-changer. Not only will the patrons at BC/BS of NY benefit, but I hope it will prompt other insurance companies to make the same decision. It’s about time that insurance providers come into the modern age and acknowledge that essential oils – particularly organic and pure oils like dōTERRA – can improve health.

I have proved this to myself based on personal experience. Until recently, I was regularly filling five prescriptions every month for several diagnosed medical issues. Last month, I stopped the last prescription, and I haven’t felt better in years.

Yes, I have been exercising and eating better. In addition, I have used my dōTERRA oils. I believe they helped me balance my internal system. Until now, when I told friends and others (including medical doctors) about my physical improvement, they might roll their eyes or even argue with me that I should stay on the medicine. Some of them will continue with that response. But when I tell them about BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and its decision to include dōTERRA in its coverage, I expect their attitudes will start to change. It’s about time.
